How many times have you heard of solar panels but never knew what it was? For starters, the definition of a solar panel is a panel designed to absorb the sun’s rays as a source of energy for generating electricity or heating. Solar energy begins with the sun. Solar panels are used to convert light from the sun, which is composed of particles of energy called “photons”, into electricity that can be used to power electrical loads. When photons hit a solar cell, they knock electrons loose from their atoms. If conductors are attached to the positive and negative sides of a cell, it forms an electrical circuit. Solar cells are made of silicon, which are most like semiconductors. When electrons flow through such a circuit, they generate electricity. Multiple cells are the key factors in creating a solar panel, and multiple modules which are also known as panels can be bound together to form a solar arrangement. The more panels you install, the more energy you can expect to generate.
